...FLASH FLOOD WARNING IS CANCELLED FOR NORTHERN COOK AND NORTHERN DUPAGE COUNTIES... The threat for flash flooding has ended. However, numerous roads, viaducts, and low spots remain flooded in the area due to earlier thunderstorms. Please continue to heed remaining road closures and never drive through flooded roadways. A Flood Advisory remains in effect for the area. A Flood Watch remains in effect until 600 AM CDT for portions of Illinois and northwest Indiana. &&

...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 315 AM CDT WEDNESDAY... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of northeast Illinois, including the following counties, Cook and DuPage. * WHEN...Until 315 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Roads and streets may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1017 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain with rates up to one inch per hour moving through the area. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1.5 inches are expected over the area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Chicago, Aurora, Naperville, Elgin, Cicero, Hammond, Arlington Heights, Evanston, Schaumburg, Palatine, Skokie, Des Plaines, Oak Lawn, Berwyn, Mount Prospect, Wheaton, Hoffman Estates, Oak Park, Downers Grove and Glenview. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Flood Advisory means minor flooding along waterways and other poor drainage areas is imminent or may already be occurring. Persons in the advisory area should use caution and avoid flood waters. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Roads and streets may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - An area of thunderstorms with rain rates up to one to two inches per hour is expected to move through the area this evening through the overnight hours.
